When I approach new GCs about coming to the event and I ask for a call beforehand to explain the event, I’m often met with a slightly bemused (though always very polite) unspoken question as to why a legal conference needs explaining. 🫣
And that’s a fair point. Why does it needs explaining?
What separates us from the many other conferences and events you get invited to? You have limited time so why spend it with us?
Speaking with a GC at the last Birmingham event, in one sentence she perfectly encapsulated what we wanted to achieve with Workgroup. 🙏

And this is why we run the events that we do. If you want the latest legal update, Workgroup Legal is not the place for you. It is however, a place to share learnings, war stories and to support each other in what can be a very isolated role.
“It’s really good because as GC it can be quite lonely at times. Your colleagues are fellow senior leaders but none of them are lawyers so you are riding it on your own in your business. So to have other people locally that you can lean on or bounce a question off or just say ‘what do you think of that?’ or get a second opinion. That’s what this networking allows.”

And that’s why we brought our event to the Midlands and why we’re so passionate about building this community.
